ANNOUNCEMENT
As of September 21, 2025, Redemption Church Netherlands will be an independent church with its own name and leadership. Our friendship and relationship with Redemption Church South Africa, pastor Joshua, and pastor Tara will remain strong into the future.
Our calling from 2005 remains: to be strong local churches where people encounter God’s grace. Our time as Redemption Church has been foundational. We believe God has used this season to prepare us for what’s next. Sunday, September 21, 2025 marks the beginning of this new chapter.
FAQ
-
Redemption Church is the church under the leadership of Pastor Joshua. It would be confusing and undesirable for us to keep "their" name. Moreover, it clearly marks the end of the past season.
-
Since January, Redemption Church in the Netherlands has already been operating independently. In addition, while the annual theme is great, it mainly provides vision for the new direction Pastor Joshua is taking in South Africa.
In the coming phase, we will clearly be charting our own course with our own vision and mission. We will share more about this with you at the end of June.

-
Each campus is led by a location pastor. These are:
Cody Gaasenbeek (Rotterdam)
Roos Doornenbal (Almelo)
Mark & Marja Drenth (Hellevoetsluis)
Peter & Tabitha van den Hooff (Amersfoort)
-
In recent months, we have posted several job openings. These positions will be filled soon, and you will be informed about them.
An organizational chart will also be published on our church’s website, where you can clearly see who holds which role in our church, both locally and nationally.

Pastor Joshua initiated this step.
After the passing of his father, Pastor Ray McCauley, in October 2024, Pastor Joshua and Pastor Tara have taken on greater responsibility in South Africa. Through prayer and prophetic confirmation, it became clear that Pastor Joshua is called to fully focus on South Africa.
Pastor Joshua sees that the Dutch locations are ready to stand on their own and is handing over the leadership with full confidence.
-
Pastor Marcel will be the leading voice in the vision for our congregation. In this role, he will regularly speak at the different locations.
The location pastors lead the various sites as a team. They work with their local leadership teams to develop the vision, mission, and priorities appropriate for each location. The board supports the location pastors.
Pastor Andrew Toogood from Belfast is involved as an expert and spiritual authority to optimally guide this process. He collaborates with the location pastors, the board, and Pastor Joshua in this transition. We are extremely grateful for his insight and assistance.
On September 21, 2025, Redemption Church Netherlands will become an independent church. Leading up to that, you will receive more information about the organizational structure.
-
Pastor Marcel led our church as senior pastor from 2005. In 2019, he handed over his role and our church to Pastor Joshua McCauley.
After September 2025, Pastor Marcel will serve as Pastor for Vision & Teaching, becoming the leading voice in our church's vision. In this role, he will regularly speak at different locations. He will closely work with the location pastors, inspiring and equipping them spiritually.
Unlike his previous role as senior pastor, from September 2025, Pastor Marcel will focus solely on vision and teaching. The day-to-day operations of the church will be managed by the team of location pastors, supported by the board.
Pastor Marcel will ensure that, from this role, we continue to walk in our calling as a church: a church where the gospel of grace is boldly proclaimed and the glory of God is evident.
Pastor Marcel is married to Pastor Cody, who leads our location in Rotterdam.

Gracious Daughters is part of Redemption Church. This also applies, for example, to Jesus Cares and the names and structure of the various kids' groups.
Naturally, this new era also brings changes to everything that has been a fixed part of Redemption Church.
The renewed vision, mission, and priorities for our church will serve as a clear guide moving forward. What this will specifically mean for what was previously a fixed part of Redemption Church Netherlands will be further developed in the coming period by the location pastors.

After the summer months, we will carefully inform you about how the banking separation of Redemption Church will take place. At this moment, we expect to be able to simply change the name, with the rest of the bank details remaining the same.

Prayer! In addition to "business as usual," this phase requires a lot of focus and wise decisions from our location pastors and board in order to properly set the foundational conditions for our church.
Ask any questions you may have that haven’t yet been answered. Going through this process together means truly listening to one another. This is extremely important during this time.
Believe courageously with us. We will do our best to paint the picture we see for the future. We will set our course based on where we believe the Lord is leading us. And certainly, this will sometimes require courageous decisions. You can help by looking together with the Lord and, where needed, stepping in with both words and actions.

End of June 2025. That is also when the congregation will hear the new name of the church.
